Steel Bar Rolling Process

The process of rolling steel bars mainly includes raw material preparation, heating, rolling, shearing, cooling, cutting the length, inspection, packaging, weighing and warehousing. The following is a detailed overview of this process:

1. Raw material preparation

Raw material types: The raw materials for rolling steel bars are usually continuous casting billets, such as 150mm square continuous casting billets. These raw materials need to meet the corresponding implementation standards, such as GB1499.2-2007, YB/T2011-2004, etc.

Raw material acceptance: The raw materials need to undergo strict appearance quality inspection before being put into production, and unqualified billets are removed, and they are marked and recorded.

2. Heating

Heating furnace: The raw steel billets are sent to the heating furnace for heating. The heating furnace is usually a double heat storage push steel type continuous heating three-stage heating furnace, and its temperature needs to be controlled in sections according to the steel type and specification.

Heating system: The temperature of the heating furnace is divided into preheating section, heating section and soaking section. The temperature range is usually between 600-1250℃ to ensure that the billets are evenly heated to the appropriate rolling temperature.

3. Rolling

Rolling mill layout: The rolling mill usually adopts a tandem full-continuous process layout, and the rolling mill units are arranged alternately in horizontal and vertical directions, and the whole line realizes twist-free rolling. The rolling mill is divided into a rough rolling unit, an intermediate rolling unit and a finishing rolling unit, and each unit usually consists of 6 rolling mills.

Rolling process: After the steel billet is rolled in the rough rolling unit for multiple passes, it enters the intermediate rolling unit for further rolling, and finally enters the finishing rolling unit for finishing rolling. Rough rolling and intermediate rolling are micro-tension rolling, and tension-free rolling is achieved between the finishing rolling units to ensure the dimensional accuracy of the rolled pieces.

4. Shearing

Multiple-length shearing: After the rolled pieces are rolled to a certain length, they are sheared by a multiple-length flying shear to optimize the length of the rolled pieces.

Fixed-length shearing: After the sheared rolled pieces are cooled on the cooling bed, they are sheared into fixed-length lengths by cold shears to meet customer needs.

5. Cooling

Water cooling or air cooling: The rolled pieces can be cooled by water cooling or air cooling as needed to control the final rolling temperature and performance of the rolled pieces.

6. Inspection, packaging, weighing and storage

Inspection: Check the appearance quality of the cooled fixed-length rolled pieces to ensure that there are no defects before entering the next process.

Packaging: Qualified rolled pieces are packaged by the baler.

Weighing: The packaged rolled pieces are weighed and the weight information is recorded.

Storage: Finally, the packaged and weighed rolled pieces are transported to the finished product warehouse for stacking and storage.

In summary, the process of rolling steel bars is a complex and delicate process, which requires close cooperation and strict control of each link to ensure the quality of the final product.
