An induction furnace is an industrial furnace that uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to melt metal.

There are three types of AC power used in induction furnaces: power frequency (50 Hz or 60 Hz), intermediate frequency (60-10000 Hz) and high frequency (higher than 10000 Hz).

Induction furnaces are divided into two types: induction melting furnaces and induction heating equipment. 

The melting furnace is used for smelting or heat preservation of materials, and the furnace materials are finally in a liquid state;

The heating equipment is used for heating materials, including overall uniform heating, surface heating or local heating of materials.

Melting furnaces are divided into core induction furnaces and coreless induction furnaces.

The core induction furnace has an iron core passing through the inductor, and is powered by a power frequency power supply. It is mainly used for melting and heat preservation of various cast iron, brass, bronze, zinc and other metals. The electric efficiency is over 90%, and waste furnace materials can be used. The melting cost is low, and the maximum furnace capacity is 270 tons.

The coreless induction furnace has no iron core passing through the inductor, and is divided into power frequency induction furnace, triple frequency induction furnace, generator set intermediate frequency induction furnace, thyristor intermediate frequency induction furnace, and high frequency induction furnace.

Power frequency furnace

The industrial frequency induction furnace is an induction electric furnace powered by an industrial frequency current (50 or 60 Hz).

The power frequency induction furnace has developed into a kind of smelting equipment with a wide range of uses. It is mainly used as a melting furnace to smelt gray cast iron, malleable cast iron, ductile iron and alloy cast iron. In addition, it is also used as a holding furnace.

1. Furnace body

The furnace body of the power frequency induction furnace for smelting cast iron is composed of induction furnaces (two sets, one for smelting and the other for standby), furnace cover, furnace frame, tilting furnace oil cylinder, furnace cover mobile opening and closing device, etc.

2. Electrical parts

The electrical part is composed of power transformer, main contactor, balance reactor, balance capacitor, compensation capacitor and electrical console, etc.

3. Cooling system

The cooling water system includes capacitor cooling, inductor cooling and flexible cable cooling, etc. The cooling water system is composed of water pumps, circulating pools or cooling towers, and pipeline valves.

4. Hydraulic system

The hydraulic system includes oil tanks, oil pumps, oil pump motors, hydraulic system pipes and valves, and hydraulic consoles.
