Induction Furnace Operating Procedures
Induction furnaces are industrial furnaces that use the principle of electromagnetic induction to melt metals.
There are three types of AC power used in induction furnaces: power frequency (50Hz or 60Hz), intermediate frequency (60-10000 Hz) and high frequency (higher than 10000 Hz);
Induction furnaces are divided into two types: induction melting furnaces and induction heating equipment. The former is used for smelting or heat preservation of materials, and the charge is finally in a liquid state; the latter is used for heating materials, including overall uniform heating, surface heating or local heating of materials.

Induction Furnace Operating Procedures
Induction furnace is an induction heating equipment widely used in the machinery industry. It has the characteristics of fast heating speed, energy saving and environmental protection, and uniform heating temperature. Hani Metallurgy believes that induction furnace steelmaking has very strict operating procedures to ensure the safety of induction furnace operation and steelmaking quality; to ensure high-quality molten steel with low gas and inclusion content, qualified composition and temperature in molten steel. Therefore, it is necessary to strictly follow the operating procedures of the intermediate frequency induction furnace to ensure the quality of the intermediate frequency induction furnace steelmaking and the safety of the staff.
Medium frequency induction furnace operating procedures
Part 1: Preparation before production
1. When the front workers of the induction furnace take over the shift, first check and understand the use of the furnace lining. Whether the production tools are complete and whether the furnace panel is exposed.
2. In principle, every two intermediate frequency induction furnace are divided into a group, and the ferrosilicon, medium manganese, slag, and heat preservation agent are prepared in place and placed in the middle storage place of the intermediate frequency induction furnace.
3. Scrap steel must be prepared in place, if there is a shortage of materials, the furnace cannot be opened.
4. The insulating rubber bedding on the intermediate frequency induction furnace table should be placed properly, and no gaps should be left.
Part II: Normal Production Process
1. After the lining is knotted in the first part of the regulations, the oven should be baked in strict accordance with the requirements of the new furnace baking process, and the baking time should be more than 2 hours.
2. Before starting the furnace, add a small suction cup to protect the furnace lining. It is not allowed to directly add large materials into the empty furnace, and then turn on the intermediate frequency power supply. At this time, the workers in front of the furnace should promptly add the small materials scattered around the induction furnace into the furnace, and it is strictly forbidden to drop off the furnace platform. Silicon steel sheet punches are only allowed to be used during the oven, and are not allowed to be used at other times.
3. The disk crane lifts the material from the stockyard to the intermediate frequency induction furnace hearth, and the furnace worker sorts the scrap steel, and the sorted flammable and explosive materials are directly placed in a special collection box, and are registered and confirmed by the hearth security.
4. The special collection box for flammable and explosive materials is placed between the two sets of intermediate frequency induction furnace platforms, and no one is allowed to move it at will (the two sets of furnaces share one).
5. The feeding of the medium frequency induction furnace is mainly done by hand. After careful sorting of the scrap steel on the furnace stand, the material whose length is less than 400mm can be added with the suction cup after the furnace chief confirms that the material has been carefully selected. The driving commander is the small furnace chief of each furnace seat. Drivers are not allowed to add materials.
6. The feeding amount of the suction cup should be controlled. After adding, the scrap steel is not allowed to exceed the furnace mouth plane of the intermediate frequency induction furnace. The scrap steel scattered around the furnace mouth should be cleaned with a suction cup when feeding. During the feeding process, the surrounding area of the induction furnace must be kept clean to prevent the induction coil or cable joint from igniting due to the falling of scrap steel.
7. The induction furnace whistle is equipped with: the supervisor on duty, the chief of the large furnace, and the chief of the small furnace. Others are not allowed to use the whistle.
8. It is strictly forbidden to pile up a large amount of scrap steel on the intermediate frequency induction furnace table, and the total amount is controlled within 3 suction cups to reduce the difficulty of scrap steel sorting.
9. If an explosion accident occurs in the induction furnace, the operator should immediately turn his back to the furnace mouth and quickly leave the scene.
10. During the feeding process before the induction furnace, long materials and large materials must be erected and put into the furnace so that they can be melted into the molten pool as soon as possible. If it is destroyed, it can be smelted normally by sending electricity.
11. For some overweight steel scraps that require more than 2 people to move into the furnace, it is strictly forbidden to throw them into the furnace. A transition should be made on the edge of the furnace, and then carefully pushed into the furnace.
12. When the tubular steel scrap is added into the intermediate frequency induction furnace, the upper opening of the pipe should face the direction of tapping, and it is not allowed to face the direction of human operation.
13. For the cold steel and short-head continuous casting slabs in the slag and tundish, they should be put into the furnace after the molten steel in the intermediate frequency induction furnace reaches more than 2/3, and it is not allowed to hit the furnace lining.
14. When the molten steel in the intermediate frequency furnace reaches more than 70%, take a sample for analysis. After the chemical composition of the sample comes out, the element blending personnel determine the amount of alloy to be added according to the comprehensive situation of the two furnaces.
The above is the operating procedure of the intermediate frequency induction furnace, which should be strictly implemented in the actual operation of the induction furnace to avoid personal injury accidents.
