Induction Furnace Graphite Crucible & Quartz Crucible
Induction furnace graphite crucible and quartz crucible have good thermal conductivity and high temperature resistance, and are widely used in metallurgy, casting, machinery, chemical and other industrial sectors, especially in the metal smelting industry, mainly for melting metal materials.
The more commonly used crucibles for melting metals are graphite crucibles and quartz crucibles. What is the difference between these two crucibles? We can compare them in terms of their appearance, heat resistance, heating materials and usage.

Color:
Quartz crucibles and graphite crucibles have different colors. The quartz crucible is in the shape of a white cup, and the graphite crucible is in the shape of a black cup, which is very easy to distinguish.
Temperature resistance:
Quartz crucibles are more resistant to high temperatures than induction furnace graphite crucible. The maximum temperature of the intermediate frequency melting furnace is 2600°C, and it is equipped with a quartz crucible;
The maximum temperature of the high-frequency melting furnace is 1600°C, and it is equipped with a graphite crucible.
Heating method
The materials are heated differently during use of the two crucibles.
Quartz has no resistance. When the intermediate frequency current passes, the metal material in the quartz crucible generates induction heat, but the quartz crucible doesn't generate heat. It's suitable for smelting iron, aluminum, stainless steel, platinum, gold, palladium, etc.;
Induction furnace graphite crucible, there is resistance in graphite, when high-frequency current passes, graphite crucible heats metal materials through self-induction heating, which can melt gold, silver, copper, alloy, K gold, etc.
Quartz crucibles can be used alone, but graphite crucibles should be used with a quartz jacket because graphite will oxidize.
The quality of induction furnace graphite crucible is related to its material and density.
Good graphite crucible is evenly oxidized, and it is not easy to eat gold, so that the production loss is low; Bad graphite is unevenly oxidized, which will eat materials and cause high loss. If graphite is oxidized, it is easy to become thinner or even cracked, so when using a graphite crucible, it must be covered with a quartz crucible coat, which plays a protective role.
