Continuous casting process-2. What is multi-furnace continuous casting? 3. How to realize multi-furnace continuous casting?
2. What is multi-fired continuous pouring?
Multi-furnace continuous casting means that multiple furnaces of molten steel can be poured continuously in the last starter rod. If it takes one hour to cast a furnace of steel, it takes one hour to prepare the ingot bar for the last time. Then, if the ingot bar can be poured continuously for 5 furnaces of steel last time, the preparation time is still one hour. Then the operating rate of the casting machine can be greatly improved. The auxiliary time is greatly reduced. The more continuous casting furnaces, the higher the utilization rate of the casting machine, the higher the metal recovery rate, and the reduced consumption of auxiliary materials. According to statistics, compared with single-furnace pouring, 5-furnace continuous casting can increase the billet output by about 50%, increase the metal yield by about 3%, and reduce the operating cost by about 25%. Therefore, the number of multi-furnace continuous casting furnaces represents the production level of the continuous casting machine.
To achieve multiple furnaces continuous pouring, we should start with improving production equipment, doing a good job in production organization and management, and preventing accidents. To ensure that the pouring is not interrupted, the ladle and the tundish should be replaced quickly. The time for replacing the ladle should not exceed 3 minutes, and the time for replacing the tundish should not exceed 1 minute. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation to adapt the tapping frequency of the steelmaking furnace to the drawing speed of the continuous casting machine, so that the production can proceed in a rhythmic manner. It is also necessary to strengthen the maintenance of equipment and strictly implement operating procedures to prevent equipment and man-made accidents.
3. How to realize multiple furnace continuous pouring?
Continuous casting of multiple furnaces is a highly difficult technology. It is a comprehensive manifestation of continuous casting equipment, technology, and management level. In order to realize the continuous casting of multiple furnaces, a series of technologies have been developed.
(1) The ladle rotary table is adopted to realize the rapid replacement of the ladle, which can be completed in 1~2min.
(2) The use of large-capacity tundish ensures that sufficient time is provided without reducing the pulling speed when changing the ladle.
(3) Online crystallizer width adjustment technology. In the past, casting had to be interrupted due to changes in steel grades or sections. Online width adjustment and different steel using a mold
This kind of pouring technology can greatly extend the continuous pouring time. According to statistics, the mold adopts online width adjustment, and the average continuous casting is 9.7 furnaces, and the width adjustment is 5.5 furnaces.
(4) Quickly replace the tundish and replace the immersion nozzle technology.
(5) Technology to prevent clogging of the nozzle. Such as a tundish stopper rod or immersion nozzle blowing Ar, molten steel calcium treatment, etc. to prevent the accumulation of Al2O3. in the nozzle.
Because multiple furnace continuous pouring has obvious economic benefits. The level of multi-furnace continuous casting of various continuous casters has been significantly improved. According to statistics in 1985, the average number of continuous casting furnaces for slabs, blooms, and billets were 8, 11.2, and 6.8 furnaces respectively, which is a great improvement from the 1970s.
Multi-furnace continuous casting can reflect the level of modern continuous casting machine equipment, technology and management, and the world record of multiple furnace continuous casting continues to emerge. For example, in 1991, the slab caster of the Mizushima Plant in Japan continuously poured 927 furnaces (300tLD) for 34 days, casting 248,000 tons of slabs at a time. The 4-strand billet caster continuously casts 1,015 furnaces for 38 days and casts more than 150,000 tons of billets at a time.
The above is the explanation of the continuous casting of multiple furnaces and how to realize the continuous casting of multiple furnaces. If you have anything to add or don’t understand, please let us know or email us so that we can be more familiar with this product.
