The Drawing Speed of The Continuous Casting Machine

The production process of continuously casting high-temperature molten steel into a slab with a certain cross-sectional shape and a certain size is called continuous steel casting.

The equipment required to complete this process is called a complete set of continuous casting equipment. The electro-hydraulic integration of steel pouring equipment, continuous casting machine body equipment, cutting area equipment, ingot bar collection, and conveying equipment constitutes the core part of continuous steel casting equipment, which is customarily called continuous casting machine.

The pulling speed of the continuous casting machine refers to the speed at which the casting billet is pulled out by the ingot bar from the mold. Generally, it is 1m/min~4m/min.

The drawing speed determines the production efficiency of the continuous casting machine. However, the high drawing speed and the high quality of the slab are often contradictory. Therefore, the pulling speed and quality must be unified according to the variety and quality requirements.

The drawing speed (referred to as the drawing speed) is expressed by the length (m) of the casting slab drawn per minute per stream of the casting machine. Pulling speed is one of the important parameters in the design of a continuous casting machine. After the slab section is determined, the drawing speed plays a decisive role in the production capacity of the continuous casting machine. The concept of pouring speed is also used abroad. The pouring speed is expressed by the amount of molten steel poured per minute (t) per stream of the casting machine. The higher the pulling speed, the greater the production capacity of the continuous casting machine, but it has a certain limit. Because the solidification speed of molten steel limits the thickness of the billet shell when the cast slab exits the mold, the higher the drawing speed, the thinner the billet shell is, which is prone to excessive deformation and even breakout. At the same time, it will cause porosity and shrinkage inside the cast slab, which will deteriorate the quality.

Under certain technological conditions, in order to obtain the best economic benefits, two most basic requirements must be met when seeking the best drawing speed: one is that the cast slab has a certain thickness of the shell when it exits the lower mouth of the mold. To prevent excessive deformation and leakage; the second is that the internal and external quality of the cast slab is good.
